Rotation Model

The Rotation model provides 8 workshop rotation options for each Bible story. In this model, kids spend more than one week on a Bible story and visit a different workshop each week in order to experience that same story with different perspectives.

Each workshop rotation for kids in Kindergarten to Grade 6 is focused on a rich Bible story or group of Bible stories about particular characters. Workshop rotations include: Art, Bible Skills and Games, Computer Lab, Cooking, Creative Drama, Music, Science, and Video.  Preschoolers will experience an in-room rotation with Storytelling, Art, Snack, Music and Game stations.

The Rotation model also includes an “All Kids” option, making it easy for smaller congregations or congregations who prefer a multi-age Sunday school program format.

The curricular resources are organized into four age groupings:

  • Preschool (in-room rotation)
  • Lower Elementary (workshop rotations)
  • Upper Elementary (workshop rotations)
  • All Kids (Kindergarten – Grades 6 workshop rotations)

Life as a Rotation curriculum leader:

“I have been teaching Sunday school for the last five years. It is an important part of living my faith and I love how our church has embraced the rotation model. I like the flexibility of the lessons and I feel like my students are growing in their faith. However, many of my students are not able to attend each week.  Can Spark Rotation help them feel included even though they may not be able to attend each Sunday?”

  • Yes! Kids spend more than one week on a Bible story and visit a different rotation workshop each week in order to experience that same story from a different perspective. For kids that may not make it every week, they will still have the opportunity to experience each Bible story.
  •

  • You can use the reproducible family pages that focus on the Bible stories covered in the workshops. Families can continue learning and exploring at home!

Scope and Sequence:

The Rotation model is also known as the workshop model.  Each story is designed to be used for multiple weeks. Children learn about the story in new ways while rotating through the workshops from week to week. Each story has 8 workshop options.
